Logitech Camera software iPhone conflict Blue Screen in Windows XP

Problem:
Blue Screen Error when connecting iPhone to computer.

Discussion:
There have been reports of BS's when connecting an iPhone to some Dell Systems. Research indicates that the root cause of the problem is a conflict with the Logitech Camera software for the built-in webcam. So far reports to me have been on the XPS M1210 but is can occur on any system equipped with a logitech webcam and Windows XP.

Resolution:
Updating the Camera software to Dell Driver version 10.5.1.xxxx

Logitech Integrated Camera, Application, Windows Vista 32-bit, Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows XP, Multi Language, XPS M1210, M2010, v.10.5.1.1125b

or the Logitech WebCam Software/Driver Suite to QuickCam® for Notebooks Pro v11.0 http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/435/3055&cl=us,en resolves the problem.

Error message when you start a Windows Vista-based computer after you change the SATA mode of the boot drive.

Problem:
Error message when you start a Windows Vista-based computer after you change the SATA mode of the boot drive: "STOP 0x0000007B INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE"

Symptom:
Consider the following scenario. In the BIOS setup of a Microsoft Windows Vista-based computer, you change the Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) mode of the boot drive to use the Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI) specification. You then restart the computer. In this scenario, you receive the following error message: STOP 0x0000007B INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE.

Discussion:
This issue occurs if the AHCI driver (Msahci.sys) in Windows Vista is disabled. This driver must be enabled before you change the SATA mode of the boot drive.

Resolution:
Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.To resolve this issue, enable the AHCI driver in the registry before you change the SATA mode of the boot drive. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Exit all Windows-based programs.
2. Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
3. If you receive the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
4. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci
5. In the right pane, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify.
6. In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
7. On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor.

Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Stop code: 0x0000007E when connecting iPhone to computer.

Problem:
Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Stop code: 0x0000007E when connecting iPhone to computer.

Discussion:
There have been reports of BSOD's Stop code: 0x0000007E when connecting an iPhone to some Dell Systems. Research indicates that the root cause of the problem is a conflict with older versions Logitech Camera software for the webcam. This issue can occur on any system equipped with a logitech webcam.

Resolution:
I have had replies verifying that in you update the Logitech WebCam Software/Driver Suite to QuickCam® for Notebooks Pro v11.0 the blue screen doesn't occur. (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/435/3055&cl=us,en) As yet, there is not a Dell validated Logitech driver/software suite, so any use of this software is at the customer's own risk. If the customer doesn't want to assume that risk then they can follow the workaround below to enable iPhone functionality.

Workaround:
The blue screen error can be resolved by uninstalling the logitech camera software and drivers then rebooting the system without the logitech drivers installed. The iPhone will then install and function normally.
