Problems:
There are known issues with the October 31st release of Dell Support Center 2; however, an update is available that fixes the following issues:
Owner's Manual Link
The Owner's Manual link on the About Your System page may not appear due to a fault in the system identification process. The Owner's Manual is still available from the Dell Manuals page.
System Tray Text
When hovering over the DSC icon in the system tray, User Settings appears instead of Dell Support Center User Settings.
Google Gadget
If you click the Google Gadget to view the alerts page and DSC is already open to a different page, the DSC page does not automatically change to the alerts page. You can navigate to the alerts page by clicking Alerts.
Folder Appears at Startup
In Microsoft® Windows® XP, the folder appears for c:\program files\dell, where c is the primary hard drive on which DSC is installed.
Please note that when hovering over the DSC icon in the system tray, the text that appears matches the language of the operating system regardless of the language selected under regional settings. This will be fixed in a future update to enable the text to match the selected language.
Resolution:
*Solution 1
Dell Support Center (DSC) periodically synchronizes with a remote server. If you have DSC installed, DSC will be automatically updated after its next synchronization cycle which can take up to two days. The updated to DSC updates the version number to 2.0.0.07311. To verify that your version of DSC has been updated, perform the following:
1. Click to Start, and hover over All Programs.
2. Click Dell Support Center and then About Dell Support Center.
Dell Support Center opens, and the version number appears.
3. If you have an earlier version than 2.0.0.07311 and want to manually install the update, you can uninstall DSC and then download and install the latest version.
