Problem:
Bluetooth 350 troubleshooting information Migrating from Vista to XP with Vista module.
Discussion:
*Need to know information.
The Vista version of the Bluetooth Module (JP098) does not contain a Toshiba license key which enables use of Toshiba (XP) stack beyond 30 day trail-ware period. The XP module is HCI only, Vista Module is HID/HCI
*Situation
Migrating from Vista to XP with Vista module (PR032)
Installing XP Toshiba profile pack will provide full functionality for only a limited 30 day period.
Without an installed Toshiba Stack the BT device will be have a “?” in Device Mgr and will not be recognized.
*Solution #1
Before downgrading to XP the customer should uninstall the Vista software/driver pack, this will lock the device in HCI mode which enables the device to be seen in XP.
*Solution #2
If the customer uninstalls the Vista OS and replacing with XP (without uninstalling Vista Software/driver pack) which means the device is in stuck in HID mode, it will not function properly in XP. A web posted utility is required to force the HCI mode change. Customers will also need to know the process to when to use this file. Please see the DSN KB article for the proper process. Why did my Dell™ Wireless 350 Bluetooth adapter stop working after changing from Microsoft® Windows Vista™ to Microsoft® Windows® XP?
*Solution #3
The only other solution for the above situation is to dispatch the XP version of the card Part# RD530
Note:The Dell 350 Bluetooth module will end of life with the M’07 systems, so there are no other resolutions planned.
