Problem:
The Intel 3945ABG wireless adapter may intermittently disconnect from the wireless network and require a reboot.
Description:
Releases affected:
Windows XP Release (R151972) version 11.1.0.0 with device driver version 11.1.0.86
Windows Vista Release (R152679) version 11.1.0.0 with device driver version 11.1.0.86
Symptoms identified with the disconnection issue on the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network MiniPCI Card:
Wi-Fi LED will turn off (and radio) and the connection will be lost
Event log s will indicate numerous 5002 and/or 5005 errors related to the adapter.
Rebooting the system will cause the adapter to recover.
Engineering is currently investigating this issue. At this time it is believed that there may be some dependencies on power management features but root cause has not yet been determined.
Solution:
The targeted date for solution could potentially be as early as August for factory installation with a webpost release by mid-July 2007.
The 11.1 version has been removed (from the web) for these systems until the investigation is complete:

Workaround:
The problem may be minimized by setting the property values of the WLAN cards power management state to "Maximum Performance". For the systems listed above customers may roll back to the 10.5.1 release (R138747) for Windows XP and 10.6 release (R140118) for Windows Vista.
Newer systems not on the above system list are not qualified for using the 10.5.1 driver revision, their problem may be minimized by setting the Intel 3945ABG Wireless adapters advance property value for power management to "Maximum Performance".
