The Dell™ Wireless 1505 Draft11n PCIe Desktop Adapter introduces a dual band PCIe adapter supporting 802.11a/b/g/n networks. The Dell Wireless 1505 is a PCIe carrier card with a Dell Wireless 1505 mini-card attached. The desktop version has an external antenna with a long cable so the antenna can be easily positioned on a desk or cabinent for a strong wireless connection. It works in both Windows® XP and Windows Vista™
The Dell Wireless Client Card Utility has been updated to add increased functionality. A user friendly interface with wizards to help the customer setup a basic wireless connection. For enterprise customers, there is still a manual setup which provides 802.1x, WPA (WiFi Protected Access) for Enterprise and CCKM (Cisco Centralized Key Management) network authentication. The client utility introduces timed profiles and capabilities to restrict users from creating, modifying and deleting profiles.
NOTE:
When using WPA-Enterprise or WPA-PSK as the Network Authentication method, the card senses whether the router or access point is using WPA or WPA2. The correct authentication and encryption type are then used to communicate with the router or access point. The difference between WPA and WPA2 is mainly the encryption method. WPA uses TKIP encryption and WPA2 uses AES encryption.
